As part of our prostatepledge.com initiative, Wayne has been very open and candid with his own diagnosis and treatment. While prostate cancer physically affects males, our message has also been directed towards women in an effort to get “the man in their life” screened as well. This could be a father, brother, husband, boyfriend or friend. Beyond the screening, there is another side of this dynamic that is present through a diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Wayne will be a guest, along with his wife Sue, to discuss their story on KXXT’s Men’s Health segment hosted by Fred Taylor, Executive Director of the SW Prostate Cancer Foundation. You may recognize Fred as one of the stars of our cancer survivor ASHLine spots from last spring.
This week’s show will highlight the dynamics that develop after a man is diagnosed with prostate cancer. Wayne was recently diagnosed and is currently undergoing radiation therapy. His wife Sue was intimately involved in the process from day one. They will share their journey of what procedure to utilize, what medical institution to engage etc. And how to successfully combat prostate cancer. In addition, Autumn Barber will join the panel. She is the wife of the late Tempe Police Detective Tim Barber. Tim was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer at the ripe old age of 40. Tim lost his battle to prostate cancer in August of 2011. Autumn delivered two twins shortly after Tim passed.
We invite you to listen live, via Internet, on Thursday May 22nd at 10:00am as Wayne and Sue share their journey. Show information is attached including a link to listen live and a call-in number. Please share this information with your networks. Thank you!
