Join us for a meeting of the Arizona Health Literacy Coalition and get to know other professionals with an interest in health literacy. The meeting will begin with training conducted by Marti Lindsey, PhD., University of Arizona, and Andrew Pleasant, Ph.D., Canyon Ranch Institute, on health literacy principles and techniques. There will be an opportunity to engage in discussions and exercises.
The second half of the morning will include a review of the National Action Plan to Improve Health Literacy in light of our needs in Arizona. We hope to develop a statewide plan to raise the knowledge and practice levels of professionals about health literacy issues and identify potential next steps and activities for Arizona.
Who should attend? Medical and public health professionals and others from education, libraries, social services and anyone with an interest in public health. Students are welcome.
Meeting details: Friday, May 4, 2012, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, in Casa Grande. For more information, visit www.azhealthliteracy.org .
